Meet Lauren & Chandler Ray

We’re the co-founders of Asheville Inner Child Counseling & Consulting. As a small, clinician-led practice, we keep our work grounded in thoughtful, developmentally informed care and a steady therapeutic pace for children, teens, adults, and parents.

Lauren Ray LCMHC, NCC, QS

Co-Founder
Child, Adolescent & Adult Therapist

Lauren Ray is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Qualified Supervisor who works with children, teens, adults, and parents. Her work is grounded in Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) and developmentally informed, trauma-responsive care.

Lauren supports clients navigating emotional regulation challenges, anxiety, trauma, and major life transitions. With children, she uses play and the therapeutic relationship as the primary tools for helping kids express, process, and integrate their emotional experiences in ways that feel safe and age-appropriate.

She has a particular specialty in supporting young children adjusting to family transitions such as separation or divorce, and works closely with parents to strengthen attachment, consistency, and emotional understanding across caregiving relationships.

Lauren also works extensively with adults, integrating Brainspotting into trauma-focused therapy when appropriate. Her approach is relational, intentional, and carefully paced, with attention to nervous-system readiness and collaboration.

Chandler Ray LCMHC

Co-Founder
Experiential, Relational & Trauma-Informed Therapist

Chandler Ray is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor who works with children, teens, adults, and parents through an experiential, relational, and trauma-informed lens.

Chandler supports clients navigating trauma, emotional regulation challenges, relational stress, and life transitions. His work emphasizes embodied awareness, regulation, and helping clients develop a felt sense of safety and connection—both internally and within relationships.

With children, Chandler is known for offering a calm, steady, and regulated male presence, particularly helpful for kids navigating trauma, attachment concerns, and big emotions. He uses relationship, play, and attunement to support safety and trust over time.

With teens and adults, Chandler’s experiential approach helps clients move beyond insight alone and into lived, embodied change, with close attention to how stress and trauma show up in both the body and relational system.
